  91. Character Movement & Interaction:
  92.  
  93. Your character can be moved around the environment using the four Arrow keys.
  94. The game employs a unique hybrid system which allows you to precisely control
  95. the direction of movement. So, for example, UP arrow moves the character up
  96. the screen. Press the LEFT or RIGHT arrows to alter the direction of movement
  97. tap the arrows to change the direction slightly, keep pressed to significantly
  98. change the direction.

  100. As an object or person is approached, with which your character can interact, 
  101. a highlight appears over that object, and icons on the action-map indicate 
  102. what actions are possible.  The action-map, which appears in the bottom right 
  103. of the screen, maps to four keys on your keyboard (Default to W, A, S, D). 
  104. A specific action can be selected by pressing the appropriate key.

  154. 4.DISPLAY SETTINGS
  155.  
  156. When you first run BROKEN SWORD - THE SLEEPING DRAGON it will launch with a
  157. resolution of 800x600.
  158.  
  159. Within the game the option is available to increase / decrease the resolution
  160. of the game.  Provided that your system has a properly configured video card
  161. and a properly configured monitor, only video modes supported by your system
  162. should be offered to you for selection.
  163.  
  164. Should a video mode be selected that either your video card or your monitor
  165. does not support, a Video Safe Mode version of the game is available in the
  166. BROKEN SWORD - THE SLEEPING DRAGON folder on your computer. Use the Video Safe
  167. Mode version of the game to select an alternative resolution, then exit and 
  168. restart the normal version of the game.

  197. 6.TROUBLESHOOTING
  198.

  212. 7.KNOWN PROBLEMS
  213.  
  214. 1) The environmental sound sometimes drops out on the Hercules Maxisound 
  215. fortissimo sound card. Updating to the latest drivers should resolve this 
  216. issue.
  217.  
  218. 2) When installing the game on Windows 98 with certain types of CD-ROM drive, 
  219. the game disc will eject at the end of the installation causing a blue screen 
  220. and requiring a reboot. In this case, the game usually installs correctly and 
  221. can still be played.
  222.  
  223. 3) When playing the game with a Creative SoundBlaster 512 sound card, the 
  224. background music sometimes loops continuosly. No fix available for this problem 
  225. at this time.

  265. 9.LICENSE AGREEMENT
  266.  
  267. Your use of the file is evidence of your agreement to be bound by the terms.
  268.  
  269. 1. OWNERSHIP. The Software is and shall remain a proprietary product of THQ
  270. and its suppliers. THQ and its suppliers shall retain ownership of all
  271. patents, copyrights, trademarks, trade names, trade secrets and other
  272. proprietary rights relating to or residing in the Software. Except as
  273. provided in Section 2, you shall have no right, title or interest in or to
  274.  
  275. the Software. The Software is licensed, not sold, to you for use only under
  276. the terms of this Agreement. If you agree to be bound by all of the terms of
  277. this Agreement, you will only own the media on which the Software has been
  278. provided and not the Software itself.
  279.  
  280. 2. GRANT OF LICENCE. THQ grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable right
  281. to use one copy of the Software in the country in which you acquired the
  282. Software for your own personal use. All other rights are expressly reserved
  283. by THQ. You may not: (a) install the Software on multiple computers,
  284. timeshare the Software, or make it available to multiple persons, (b)
  285. reverse-engineer or decompile the Software, or (c) export the Software. You
  286. may make one copy of the Software solely for purposes of having a backup
  287. copy, provided that you reproduce on that copy all copyright notices and any
  288. other confidentiality or proprietary legends that are on the original copy
  289. of the Software. You understand that THQ or its suppliers may update the
  290. Software at any time and in doing so incurs no obligation to furnish such
  291. updates to you pursuant to this Agreement.

  293. 3. LIMITED WARRANTY. THQ warrants that the media on which the Software is
  294. provided will be free from faulty workmanship and defective materials for a
  295. period of ninety (90) days from your date of receipt of the Software. This
  296. limited warranty is void if failure of the Software to conform with the
  297. warranty has resulted from improper installation, misuse, neglect, accident,
  298. fire or other hazard, or after any breach of this Agreement. In the event of
  299. a breach of the foregoing limited warranty, you must return the Software to
  300. THQ or the THQ-authorised distributor that provided you with the Software,
  301. postage prepaid, before the expiration of the warranty period, with a copy
  302. of the invoice for the Software and this signed Agreement. THQ and its
  303. suppliers sole and exclusive liability and your sole and exclusive remedy
  304. shall be, at THQ sole discretion, either to (i) provide a replacement copy
  305. of the Software or (ii) refund the license fee you paid and terminate this
  306. Agreement. The replacement copy will be warranted for ninety (90) days.
  307. OTHER THAN THE FOREGOING LIMITED WARRANTY, WHICH IS MADE SOLELY BY THQ AND
  308. NOT BY ANY THQ SUPPLIER, THE SOFTWARE IS BEING LICENSED TO YOU IS, WITHOUT
  309. ANY WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. THQ AND ITS SUPPLIERS DISCLAIM ALL OTHER
  310. WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION THE WARRANTIES
  311. OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE AND
  312. NONINFRINGEMENT OF THIRD PARTY RIGHTS. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE
  313. DISCLAIMER OF IMPLIED WARRANTIES, SO THE ABOVE DISCLAIMER MAY NOT APPLY TO
  314. YOU, IN WHICH CASE THE DURATION OF ANY SUCH IMPLIED WARRANTIES IS LIMITED TO
  315. NINETY (90) DAYS FROM THE DATE THE SOFTWARE IS RECEIVED BY YOU. THIS
  316. WARRANTY GIVES YOU SPECIFIC LEGAL RIGHTS. YOU MAY HAVE OTHER LEGAL RIGHTS

  319. 4. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY. IN NO EVENT SHALL THQ AGGREGATE LIABILITY IN
  320. CONNECTION WITH THIS AGREEMENT AND THE SOFTWARE, REGARDLESS OF THE FORM OF
  321. THE ACTION GIVING RISE TO SUCH LIABILITY (WHETHER IN CONTRACT, TORT OR
  322. OTHERWISE), EXCEED THE LICENSE FEES RECEIVED BY THQ FOR THE SOFTWARE. NO THQ
  323. SUPPLIER SHALL HAVE ANY LIABILITY WHATSOEVER UNDER THIS AGREEMENT. IN NO
  324. EVENT SHALL THQ OR THQ SUPPLIERS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, EXEMPLARY,
  325. SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR INCIDENTAL DAMAGES OF ANY KIND (INCLUDING WITHOUT
  326. LIMITATION LOST PROFITS), EVEN IF THQ OR SUCH SUPPLIER HAS BEEN ADVISED OF
  327. THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE
  328. LIMITATION OR EXCLUSION OF LIABILITY FOR CONSEQUENTIAL OR INCIDENTAL DAMAGES
  329. SO THE ABOVE LIMITATION OR EXCLUSION MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU. THQ SHALL NOT BE
  330. LIABLE FOR ANY CLAIMS OF THIRD PARTIES RELATING TO THE SOFTWARE. THE LIMITED
  331. WARRANTY, LIMITED REMEDIES AND LIMITED LIABILITY PROVISIONS CONTAINED IN
  332. THIS AGREEMENT ARE FUNDAMENTAL PARTS OF THE BASIS OF THQ BARGAIN HEREUNDER,
  333. AND THQ WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO PROVIDE THE SOFTWARE TO YOU WITHOUT SUCH
  334. LIMITATIONS. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE LIMITATION OR EXCLUSION OF
  335. LIABILITY, SO THE ABOVE DISCLAIMER MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU, IN WHICH CASE THE
  336. DURATION OF ANY SUCH LIMITATION OR EXCLUSION OF LIABILITY IS LIMITED TO
  337. NINETY (90) DAYS FROM THE DATE THE SOFTWARE IS RECEIVED BY YOU. THIS
  338. WARRANTY GIVES YOU SPECIFIC LEGAL RIGHTS. YOU MAY HAVE OTHER LEGAL RIGHTS

  341. 5. TERMINATION. You may terminate this Agreement at any time. This Agreement

  343. shall terminate automatically upon your breach of any term of this
  344. Agreement. Upon termination, you shall destroy the Software and the backup
  345. copy, if any, you made pursuant to the Agreement.
